Trending various hair accessories on a backdrop for summer

Trending Summer Hair Accessories

It’s summer and a new season means new trends to check out! Something I tend to focus more on as the weather warms up is my hair. It gets annoying and I usually just put it up so I wanted to challenge myself this season and try out some new hair accessories! Here you’ll find the list of what I will be using this summer!

Currently Trending: Headbands

Headbands are a tried and true for me. I loved wearing them in school because they were a way to keep my hair out of my face while still having my hair down. Currently, they’re trending with fun new styles and prints that are great for the summer. One headband I’ve been wearing is this faux pearl from Sugarfix X Target. I actually featured it in last year’s trends post too! Their current version can be found here in a set of two. I think the usage of pearls in accessories right now is so beautiful and this pearl headband is the perfect touch to elevating any summer outfit this season.

Currently Trending: Hairpins

Does anyone remember Lauren Conrad’s old beauty blog The Beauty Department? It was my absolute favorite thing when I was younger and I’ll never forget when they featured a French hairpin. It looked so effortless and it’s so versatile. Recently hairpins have been making a comeback and are currently trending making them a great piece for any minimalistic hairstyle this summer.

I have really thick hair so unfortunately, one pin can’t hold it all but these mini Kristen Ess hair pins are perfect for when I want to put half of my hair up! They come in multiple colors, these featured are rose gold, and they’re great for quick looks when the weather heats up and you’re tired of just using a hair tie. At the time of posting this, they have also officially come out with full-size pins too!

Currently Trending: Scrunchies

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it thousands of times I love scrunchies and the fact they’re still trending right now just shows how great they are. Pulling my hair up is my default during these warmer months and I like trying to find different scrunchies to add an extra touch when I do so. I’ve currently been loving oversized scrunchies from Jane Dottie Vintage, they were so kind to send me a discount code to try them and I love them! The size I got is small in the classic trio and let me tell you they are so big. Their scrunchies are perfect for an editorial look which I think is so stunning. Definitely check them out for some beautiful handmade accessories this season!

Currently Trending: Hair Scarves

I’m sure if you’ve scrolled through Instagram these past few months you’ve seen hair scarves on your feed and for a good reason. Hair scarves are trending right now and in a big way. They’re perfect for adding a feminine touch to any look which is great if you’re into cottage core looks this summer. While I’m not the biggest fan of using a full scarf, one thing I love is using pre-tied scrunchies! They’re perfect for adding a small touch to any outfit with no fuss of adjusting a full-on hair scarf. What I love about this one from Old Navy is that it actually comes in a matching pattern with a skirt which makes me look a lot more put together than I am.

Currently Trending: Patterns & Florals

Florals for spring, how groundbreaking. I know, I know how predictable but I love florals, and thanks to the cottage core trend and ever-emerging 80’s styles floral hair accessories are really trending right now. Another pattern I’ve noticed a lot of are speckled dot polka dot looks. They’re a fun pattern to mix into any outfit and I’ve found hair accessories are the easiest way to branch out with that!

Future Trends

Moving forward, I can’t wait to see what will be on trend next! If you have any thoughts on what’s trending I’d love to hear about them on my Instagram. It definitely seems like as we move towards the colder months more minimalistic and basic color palettes will be a big focus. As always if you’ve tried any of these trends be sure to let me know!
