If you’ve been to Disney World before then you know that long lines for attractions can be time-consuming and often leave you wishing you could have done more during your trip. Because timing is such a crucial thing when staying at the parks, it can be frustrating when you lose a good portion of your day to waiting in lines. In today’s post as a part of my Disney Series, I’ll be highlighting different Disney World activities to enjoy when you don’t want to wait in long lines!
Fun Disney World Activities in the Parks & Resorts
Pin Trading
Pin trading is a fun way to explore all of Disney World! It’s a fun way to collect and trade special pins from the parks and keep them as special mementos from your visit!
The best way to get started is to look into the beginners pin trading sets that Disney sells. These sets generally come with a set of 4 pins that are meant to be traded. From there you can go up to cast members that have pins and ask to trade with them. You can also buy different pins in the shops too!
Where and Who to Trade With
- Cast members wearing pins on a lanyard/crossbody will trade with you if you ask them, provided they aren’t already doing something for someone else. These cast members are typically in the merchandise shops but you can always find a few others walking around the parks!
- Almost all merchandise shops have a trading board that guests can come in to trade with. This includes resorts as well!
- Some resorts also have trading boards in different areas of the resort. For example, Caribbean Beach Resort has a special pin treasure chest behind their front desk as well as in their merchandise store!
- Disney Springs also has a Pin Trading shop where you can trade pins. This is also a great spot to check out new and limited edition pins as well if you haven’t already found them in the Parks.
Photo Shoots
Every park or hotel has iconic areas for pictures so why not spend a day having a photoshoot? Many people that go to the parks know of the iconic ‘purple and pink’ walls but there are so much more to explore!
For my birthday, my friend and I went to
It’s also important to remember that resorts such as Pop! And Art of Animation
Fun Activities at Resorts
Events
Resorts will often host fun events for guests such as painting and crafting events. You also don’t need to be staying at these resorts to participate in their events. I know someone that did 4 different painting events from different
Scavenger Hunts
One Resort activity I loved taking part in was the Scavenger Hunts! Port Orleans puts on fun seasonal scavenger hunts. During Halloween, they put up pumpkins all around the resort and you can ask the front desk for your ‘map’.
My friends and I answered trivia questions about villains while we walked around and we were able to successfully finish it! To celebrate your victory they give out free buttons which are so cute!
Fun Activities at the Parks
Magic Kingdom
Kingdom Traders
If you go into the firehouse on Mainstreet you’ll find the entrance and beginning of a fun interactive game called Kingdom Traders! The gist of the game is that Evil is taking over the kingdom and its up to you to go around the park and conquer it!
In order to play the game, you can get your starter pack of cards from the firehouse and go through your ‘training session’. There are magic mirrors hidden all along
I really like this game because it gets people to really explore a lot of the magic kingdom that may go unnoticed. The starting pack is free and you’re also allowed to trade cards with cast member’s or purchase additional packs later on!
Epcot
When you go into Epcot’s countries you’re able to purchase a passport that you can use to keep track of the countries you visit. This is a fun incentive to make it ‘around the world’ for everyone!
During seasonal events like Food & Wine and Festival of Holidays, there will be hidden characters around the pavilions and you can purchase a map to place each character to their proper location. Matching the correct hidden characters to their respective countries will give you the chance to earn a prize! When I did this at the 2018 Food & Wine festival I got a really cute cup inspired by Minnie Mouse.
Animal Kingdom
Wilderness Explorer
Explore
This is a nice way to incorporate little stops while walking the parks.
